Two more album cover mockups

Advert Mock Up

This is the mock up for my advert, it will be a full page advert in the middle of a moderately successful indie rock magazine. For this reason I have put the album cover in the middle of the page, this will allow people to recognising it while browsing in music stores or online. I have also put the artists name prominently at the top to make it completely clear who the artist is. The fonts are the same as the ones on the digipak to keep consistency. Furthermore the colours that have been chosen compliment each other well and fit with the outdoorsy feel.

Advertisement Mock Up

Advert Research

My update of the outside of my digipak.

Digipak digital mock ups

This was the first attempt at the digipak, I liked the back cover because it showed the artist in full with his outfit in the video location with the guitar however it was a bit of a flat image and I had to change  the styling of it. The front cover looked good at first but upon review I realised the image didn't really fit the indie rock genre and so I changed it. The front cover image below is not the final image it is just a mock up of what will be taken. However I have decided to change the composition of the image to feature the artists full body and guitar next to the artist.

Digipak mockup

These are the mockups of the Digipak for our artist, they are relatively simple designs but will create a lot of brand awareness.

Analysing a previous students digipak

This is a simple design with eye catching colours, there is clear brand awareness in the use of the name/logo. The fonts used for the title, tracklist and ancillary details are all the same with size variations to give a uniformity to the pieces. The only issue is the fact that the artist is not featured anywhere on either the digipak or magazine advert which would make it hard to familiarise an audience with an artist although it has been done before by hugely successful artists such as Kanye West.

Why digipaks are important to the music industry?

-Collectors and Die Hard fans still like to own a hard copy.
-It can often be a nicer than a plastic case, closer to a piece of art.
-Appeals to an older generation who haven't got into the digital download age yet.
-Cds allow you to have a digital copy and a physical copy thanks to cd ripping, for listening on multiple devices.

TUTORIAL WITH PHOTOSHOP

MY MASTERPIECE!

My first photoshop attempt for a Digipak.

4/12/13

This is my first digipak attempt on random pictures that was given to us during our photoshop trial. I did think that it was a success keeping in mind that it was my first time using photoshop however, although i did well with experimenting on photoshop. I did lack a variety of things for example if my artist is not very popular it is not a good idea to use this effect and filter with his face as we don't know who the artist is and it will be hard to gain recognition for him.

I did lack continuously with the font colour and organisation as one font was white then black and also, they were all located in different positions of the digipak Another problem was that i had more than one record label on digipak, i did also miss a lot of key information for example the album number and copyright information.

Analysis DigiPack & Advertisement research 2.

Dark background works well as the centre of attention. This is also seen through the use of lighting which is on the artist. The use of font and colour of text compliment each other as it is the same colour of the clothes worn by the artist, also works well because it is not over powering and you actually do want to look at the album cover. Having a close up of the artist on front panel and a medium close up shot on the rear panel work well too. The inner panel is a long spread image with writing placed top left and bottom right. Very simple but very effective with the artist in the middle.

The advertisement includes the many of the codes and conventions that you expect to find; where to buy/download, dates of when album will be released, images of the album, name of the album/artist.

My Digipak analysis No.3

This is the third Digipak that i personally liked. I liked the choice of colours used inside this digipak as the text and the colours compliment each other. I also like the idea of the swirl linking from the 4 panel Digipak and the advertising poster. I do believe that although he has used colours i like, the colours are not consistent between the poster and digipak as it is not consistent therefore i believe he could have kept the same colours although the current colours are slightly similar.

I also like the fact that the font was kept the same however, the font colours were different although i don't believe this is a problem as the colours he has used for his font do work with the background colour. Also there is around 3 different colours which is okay but i would say it does portray the artist and his genre well.

Why are digipaks important to the music industry?

- If you are a really big fan of the artist you would prefer to support the artist more by paying more money and have a hard copy u can touch and feel

- a plastic/cardboard copy looks like more effort has been put on it therefore more appealing to some people

- appeals to old audience who don't mind spending the extra bit of money and may not have access to internet

- people still want to buy beautifully packaged editions of music

- some people collect hard copy's

AS Digipak

Time lapse behind the scenes

Some behind the scene pics from time lapse scene

Behind the scenes - Time lapse

How we ended the time lapse scene. Andrew had to stay in the same spot for about an hour and we thought we would end the day with a little prank :)

behind the scenes - lantern shots

behind the scenes - our final scene of the lantern shots...a little look into the people who were involved, how they were organised and getting them in order.

Looking back on the last month or so

I feel i put a lot of hard work into my blog and really picked up the pace nearing the end of the deadline. i feel in contrast to the AS year i am much more focused and didn't wait last minute going back to my old blogs and finishing them. it has been a great ride over the last month or so and i have really enjoyed all the practical work and logging and have learnt many new techniques when it comes to editing such as using filters and using bars which will make it look more professional. all in all i feel i have picked up a lot and my understanding and knowledge of media has expanded

JUST SAYING... REBECCA THINKS OUR VIDEO IS & I QUOTE "AMAZING" #HATERSGONNAHATE

Music videos which inspired ours

Link to Eminem video   This music video inspired our lateren scene. The eminem music video uses  lanterns to give it an emotional feel and give a dark/ light contrast which is what we tried to achieve in our latern scene.

in this one direction video it is evident that they have a guitar as a motif. in our music video we got inspiration from this and similarly used a guitar as a motif and had andrew play the song in time with the song so it looks as professional as possible. link to video

The Lantern Crew

A Big thanks to all the people who helped us film the lantern shot, they did it all for free and we're grateful for that. Without them our last shot wouldn't have been possible.

Re doing cafe scenes.

Unfortunately our cafe scene have received criticisms from our teachers. Andrew was not singing the song therefore we was advised to re do the cafe shots, which will hopefully be done by Wednesday.
