Behind the scenes - Time lapse
behind the scenes - lantern shots
behind the scenes - our final scene of the lantern shots...a little look into the people who were involved, how they were organised and getting them in order.
Looking back on the last month or so
I feel i put a lot of hard work into my blog and really picked up the pace nearing the end of the deadline. i feel in contrast to the AS year i am much more focused and didn't wait last minute going back to my old blogs and finishing them. it has been a great ride over the last month or so and i have really enjoyed all the practical work and logging and have learnt many new techniques when it comes to editing such as using filters and using bars which will make it look more professional. all in all i feel i have picked up a lot and my understanding and knowledge of media has expanded

Music videos which inspired ours
Link to Eminem video This music video inspired our lateren scene. The eminem music video uses lanterns to give it an emotional feel and give a dark/ light contrast which is what we tried to achieve in our latern scene.
in this one direction video it is evident that they have a guitar as a motif. in our music video we got inspiration from this and similarly used a guitar as a motif and had andrew play the song in time with the song so it looks as professional as possible. link to video
The Lantern Crew
A Big thanks to all the people who helped us film the lantern shot, they did it all for free and we're grateful for that. Without them our last shot wouldn't have been possible.

Re doing cafe scenes.
Unfortunately our cafe scene have received criticisms from our teachers. Andrew was not singing the song therefore we was advised to re do the cafe shots, which will hopefully be done by Wednesday.

Reflection on Progress
Compared to last year i believe i've been keeping up well with the blogging tasks, however i can do better. My use of technology & ICT has varied through my different blogs, and also detail in my blog has been good, BUT THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
Out of 20 i would award myself a 11 from my blogs so far.
3 things i can do better and improve on:
1) Use a wider range of ICT
2) Add further detail in my blogs
3) Not leave blogs for last minute and rushing them

LOCATIONS
Locations include:
We filmed in Trent Park. This location would be where we filmed the boy and girl scene and also scenes of Andy alone singing and playing the guitar.
We initially planned to film our closing lantern lighting shot in the small park (left) however, due to health and safety issues the park minders didn't allow us to film in this location. However, we did find a public park (below) where we were able to film and complete this scene.

As part of our night shots we recorded in Spital Square (image below) were we took various shots of Andy alone playing the guitar and singing. The reason behind shooting night shots in this alleyway was to show Andy's distancing of his lover and how it was never meant to be, he was now isolated from the world.
In order to show a day to night transition we filmed a time lapse cutaway track on a corner on bishopsgate street (below). We filmed from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm.
THEORY
We chose to use Andrew Goodwin's theory of amplification.
"Giving more meaning to a pop video beyond the lyrics through moving images"
Although the video will show the relationship of two lovers, the video will not illustrate every lyric with a moving image. The video will show more of the main characters feelings and emotion from losing the person who he once called his lover. Our video will not show any dismemberment, due to our main focus being the performer, his world and his music. Moreover, we decided not to include any dismemberment as it would go against the conventions found in a music video of this genre.
Final Scene Mishaps
Yesterday we went to film our final shot of releasing the lanterns & it didnt go quite as planned.
The lack of preparation in terms of tools needed to light up the lanterns occupied most of our time! Lack of lighters and also organization.
However, the wind conditions didnt make it easier as it took longer than tested to light the lanterns. Also, once the lanterns were lit, they either caught a light or flew off in different directions at different times.
Although we got nice shots, they werent really what we wanted.

SOCIAL MEDIAS
In order to keep our audience and fan base up to date with the progress of this music video we have set up social media accounts such as Instagram & Twitter for live update feeds, including images and standard posts. This feeds information to our fan base at what locations we will be filming in, behind the scene shots and also videos during filming, little sneak peaks of what they can expect to see in the final music video & also introduce them to any other character that may also be seen.
Editing of Test shots, Bloopers and converting vide
In order to edit the bloopers and test shots I had to use iMovie as the hard drive was in use by another computer therefore i couldn't use final cut pro, iMovie was more basic with the things you could do on it however, it was very simple and efficient to use. As I uploaded the video onto the blog it did take a long time therefore i compressed the file by using HandBrake which made the file size smaller, making it faster to upload onto the blog as I had texts in my video too.

Lantern test
I had to test out one of the lanterns to get an idea of timing, the lanterns fill with air in about one minute so we need to be ready to film as soon as all of the lanterns are lit. We also need to keep an eye on the wind direction in case when the lanterns are let go they fly out of frame.

Progress report of day 1.
This is a summary of our first day of filming our music video, the first day did go successful however our time management was not great as there were delays in Arnos Grove (Tube Station) therefore, we lost precious time there however the outcome was great as we were efficient and did have great shots for our music video.

Editing the Bloopers
It was so awkward filming the couple scene that we had to make a blooper reel. It was edited on final cut and will provide laughs to anyone who watches.
Risk Assessment.
During the course of this project, we will be using expensive equiptment which will deserve respect and proper conduct of use.
We will be filming in diffirent locations at different times, this will mean that we need to keep an eye on the equipment as well as keeping our selves safe too.
Updating our fans on the social media.
Updating on social networking sites.
This is just a tweet to our fans to remind them that the filming is still progressing and them not to think we are missing or quiet. We want our fans to feel involved and we will soon answer few fan questions and upload them for our fans to be able to see their answeres, it will be very similar to a Q&A.
