Purpose of Music Videos.

One major purpose is to promote the song but also the artist, it also allows the artist to increase sales in departments such as tickets, merchandise, downloads and also hard copy sales.

The video will also allow the audience to understand the music video as many music videos are illustration therefore the viewers could understand the lyrics easier.

Appeal of music videos - the audience like looking at the artist, the location, the narratives, the audience could also keep up to date with the artist, some support the male gaze theory, also many fans would want to emulate their style or image and mainly its entertaining! 

There is also three other purposes with music videos for example how it portray the video, lyric, character(s) or artist to the viewing audience. The three types of music videos are illustrative, amplification and disjunction.
